Come join us at High-Hand Brewery to hear a live performance by Derek Fresquez & Cutting the Chord. This band formed in 2017 as a tribute to Derek’s roots playing in his family band “Rumpshaker.” This Sacramento-based group blends rock-infused blues with a funky groove, delivering electrifying guitar solos and soulful, gritty vocals. The band’s lineup includes Vern Foster on drums, who brings decades of experience in the local blues scene, and Tony Holt on bass, whose deep, driving rhythms tie everything together.

Known for their dynamic live performances, Cuttin’ the Chord captivates audiences with a mix of high-energy rock, slow-burning blues, and groovy funk that gets crowds dancing. The band recently released an album titled *Something to Lose*, featuring original tracks that showcase their diverse musical influences, including covers like Albert Collins’ “Dyin’ Flu” and Alvin Lee’s “Bluest Blues”.
